Hello!
There is so much in this newsletter than I’m going to keep this introduction to just this sentence.
Thank you for reading and speak soon,
Lily
The 95th episode of the Pictures of Lily Podcast (Vintage Edition) is my 2007 interview with Siouxsie Sioux at the time of her one and only solo album, Mantaray. Unlike most of my peers I wasn’t a fan of Siouxsie’s, but by the time the interview was done, I was a fan of her as a person. I knew nothing about her and she was very gracious and patient with my ignorance, an 18-minute listen.
Enjoy! And if you’re so inclined, you can buy me and Laurence a coffee (well, tea for me).
Proud to share that I have this month’s FLOOD Magazine digital cover story with the wonderful Sasami. I first interviewed Sasami in 2019, also for FLOOD, and she’s only gotten better with time. I loved talking to her and am really happy with how the story came out. Check it out here and check us out in our almost matching bomber jackets here.
This is me when I saw my first The Hollywood Reporter print byline on my profile of entrepreneur Jordan Passman and his music licensing company, Score a Score, thanks to my editor Shirley Halperin. Also readable online.
This guy! I reunited with Duran Duran’s John Taylor after 25 years to talk about his collab fashion line with Patty Palazzo of Punkmasters: JT x PM. My favorite part of the interview was when I said: “JT x PM leans into comfort clothes. Is that a reflection of how people dress today?” and John replied: “Well, except you, clearly. I’m a fancy dresser too.” John Taylor referred to me as a “fancy dresser.” Nice. Whole Q&A here.
In a billion years I wouldn’t have imagined this scenario: me tucked into a booth with Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill of Simple Minds. It was a wonderful evening with these gentlemen. I didn’t look at my notes. I didn’t take notes. We just talked, and later, Jim told Ken Weinstein, publicist extraordinaire: “Could have talked to her all night.” The whole story is at SPIN.

Simple Minds was the start of a glut of interesting interviews for SPIN.
Clockwise from top left: the delightful Andy Bell of Erasure (the subject of Episode 21 of the Pictures of Lily Podcast) who has a new album, Ten Crowns, and is on a major tour.
Stereo MC’s (that apostrophe has been incorrect from day one) whom I spoke to about their perennial song “Connected” for SPIN’s “The Why & The How” series ahead of their North American tour dates including an appearance at Cruel World.
Songwriter extraordinaire Dan Wilson for SPIN’s “The Songs That Made Me a Songwriter.”
And Suzanne Vega, who has a new album, Flying With Angels, but we still talked about her oldies but goodies.
All of those stories here.
Thunderbolts* might just be the Marvel movie that reinvigorates the franchise thanks in no small part to Son Lux whom I interviewed for their wall-to-wall score for the film for The Hollywood Reporter.
If you’re anything like me, Judy Blume’s books were a huge part of your formative years. But her books coming to the screen are rubbing me the wrong way, especially the recent Netflix series, Forever, inspired by Blume’s book of the same name. I wrote an essay about how “I’d rather keep Judy on my bookshelf, just as she is,” for Book and Film Globe.
Litter on the Breeze, a podcast dedicated to Suede (the subject of Episode 56 and Episode 88 of the Pictures of Lily Podcast), graciously asked me to be a guest on the episode: In Search Of… Suede – with Lily Moayeri. It was super fun and I developed a great admiration for podcast host and producer, Rory, who puts in the maximum amount of time and effort into putting together a true fan product. Listen here.
Found multiple stories I wrote based on a 1999 interview I did with Beth Orton and they’re all different from each other. I recently shared this one for The Big Issue (US version) in the founding members’ tier of this newsletter.
